Common questions
The things people usually ask before booking a clean.
How often does kitchen extraction need cleaning?
It depends on usage. BESA guidance (TR19® Grease) sets recommended frequencies by cooking volume — a busy fast-food kitchen may need a clean every 1–3 months, a light-use kitchen once a year. We take deposit thickness readings on every visit and use those to recommend a realistic schedule for your site, not a generic one.
What is TR19®?
TR19® Grease is the BESA (Building Engineering Services Association) standard for cleaning kitchen extraction systems. It sets out how a clean should be carried out, measured and reported so that the result is verifiable — not just "it's been done."
Will this affect my insurance?
Most commercial kitchen insurance policies require a valid extraction cleaning certificate, and some will only accept one from a competent contractor working to TR19®. An uncleaned or undocumented system is one of the first things an insurer looks at after a kitchen fire claim.
Do you provide a certificate?
Yes — every job gets a signed post-clean verification report with before/after evidence and a TR19® compliance certificate, suitable to hand to your insurer or fire risk assessor.
What if part of the system can't be reached?
It happens — usually a missing access panel. We'll clean everything we can reach, note exactly what couldn't be accessed and why, and tell you what's needed to fix it for next time.
I've just failed a fire risk assessment or insurance audit — can you help quickly?
Yes. If you've been flagged in an audit or assessment, get in touch and we'll prioritise getting a survey booked so you're not left exposed.
